Morgan Freeman & Samuel L. Jackson - Open Letter
77Open Letter to Morgan Freeman & Samuel L. Jackson
Let me start by saying that both Morgan Freeman and Samuel L. Jackson were right up there at the top among mine and my family’s most favorite actors of all time. Keyword here being “were”. However, we are in troubled times and the words of very public people are heard loud and clear. The comments made by these gentlemen are irresponsible and frankly, lies. Neither of these men have been to a Tea Party rally or meeting yet they have spewn racist rhetoric about these Tea Party folks. So far, the only racists I am seeing in America are coming from the black communities, congressional black leadership (Alan West excluded here), Janine Garofalo (who is a terror of one and has no group), and our Idiot in Chief. This is not “reverse racism” as I have heard people say. There is no such thing as “reverse racism”. Racism is racism regardless of whose race it befalls. That said, follow along gents, because I may not be a “very public person” but I do have the right to speak, as you do, and I have something to say.
First, while I realize you both may have been called upon by your party (the Dems) to make the egregious statements you have both made recently against the Tea Party, I also realize that you both have shown an incredible lack of character and individualism but most importantly, character. Character is what the Tea Party is all about. That and small government, less taxes. Martin Luther King, Jr., an incredible man, had a hard-on for character as well. Guess that makes you two a couple of limp d**ks.
Second, I take umbrage to both of your comments because you seem to believe that if I don’t like this Idiot of a president, it is because I am racist. I don’t like this Idiot of a president because he is a socialist or worse, because he truly does follow Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and because he is funded by the worst, most despicable human being on this earth, George Soros. President Obama has destroyed the credibility of the Democrat party which was an honorable party once upon a time when my parents were democrats from the 20s to the 90s (God rest their politically foolish souls). If they could see what the Democrat party has become, they would be incredibly disappointed.
Anyone who knows me knows my family is black and white, as are my children and grandchildren. Oh, look, so is our president. Who gives a damn? I have no hate for any race. My family considers itself Tea Party supporters. But now you two men, Morgan Freeman and Samuel Jackson, would have the public believe that I/we are racists. That my black family is racist because we support the Tea Party. Really? No, I’m serious, really?
DO understand that my entire family and our friends, which are considerable and growing everyday, are boycotting any and all movies both of you foolish gentleman have made and will make. In fact, Sam, no “good on ya” for your upcoming movie next year, The Avengers. I can’t wait to miss it.
Unfortunately, we will also be boycotting James Patterson books written for the character of Alex Cross because Morgan Freeman has very seriously ruined any honor I could have seen in the character he played. There's that word "character" again. Sorry James, but sometimes it just comes down to the people you associate yourself with and until these gentlemen apologize for their irresponsible comments, we will no longer buy any of your Alex Cross books.
For some very unhealthy reason, black Americans seem to want to follow a democrat leadership that has done nothing to help the black community with the funds given, I said GIVEN, to them by our government over the last fifty years. Instead, those funds are taken away from those communities, stolen, by the very black leadership that was placed in control of the funds. So basically, your black leadership is stealing money that should have helped your communities but you continue to scream at white America. How stupid is that?
Remember when Michelle Obama, during the president’s campaign, said that she was never proud of America until now? Well, Michelle, I have never been embarrassed of this, the most incredible country in the world, until now.
In conclusion, I will add that I am completely stunned by black America’s desire to be in the democrat party when it was the democrats who did not want the Civil Rights Act to pass, and purposely held it up for years and in fact, the Civil Rights Act was finally passed in 1964 because of Republicans. Read up, black America. It was Dems holding up the Civil Rights Act for years. The Dems got on board only when it served their purpose, not yours. This Democrat party is a smarmy group who uses race and racism to further its purposes which purpose currently includes socializing, or worse, this great country. Black America better wake up, and pretty damn soon, too, or you will only be able to blame yourselves for the shackles that the Democrats have put on you. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Maxine Waters, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton…hell, Michelle and Barack Hussein Obama, just to name a few, are laughing in their sleep over you. They are getting rich off of you but you still listen to them as though they hold the Holy Grail. My black family is smarter than that. Isn’t yours?
P.S. Herman Cain is the man to bring this country around. I suppose that makes me a racist too. Get your s**t together Black America.

AWESOME!!! I am so sick of the false labels and race baiting that the left employs to no end. I think if blacks DID read up on the history of civil rights in America, most would be surprised. God bless you for writing this hub.
coach,
No problem!! I liked your response to the lib who was griping about "sweeping statements about an entire class of people" while being BLIND to the fact that the libs use those types of statements all day every day.
Coach,
That felt good just to read it! Those very thoughts are dead on with my thoughts. I adored Morgan Freeman as an actor. I think he is extremely talented. But, words mean something to me. Those words he said were not just hurtful, because I disagree with him, they were not factual. I can live with the truth, but outright lies tear at my heart.
A very, very excellent hub!
I vote up, awesome, useful, beautiful and interesting.

@ pcoach
Thanks for your response. I respect the time you took to clarify. I will honour that with same.
My reference to 'sloppy writing' isn't about your style. I absolutely agree and prefer that people write as they think in this environment. My intention was to let you know that when I read the following: "the only racists I am seeing in America are coming from the black communities. . ." before I read the rest of the article I was struck by the statement. Taken by itself at face, it says to me exactly what I thought it did. In the context of the rest of your article, I think I understand what you are saying.
If I didn't mean that "the only racists I am seeing in america are coming from the black communities" then I wouldn't have written it. Clearly from your comments you are aware that there are other racists in america not in the black communities, so I challenged the statement. Thank you for clarifying.
I dispute it because I am hearing racist statements from all races and all political stripes in the American media and politics, and like you find it particularly frustrating especially now.
For the record, I don't think the Tea Party is racist, but I would be shocked to learn that none of its members were, the same way I would be shocked to learn that there were no hispanic, african american, native american, asian, caucasian, democratic, republican, communist racists. I would challenge any statement where any group was slapped with a label that applies to all when it clearly can't. (All men are pigs, all canadians are polite, all politicians are liars, etc etc.)
This was the first hub of yours I have read.
My 'sweeping statements' comment was made because I wished to point out that you seem to be doing the same thing that Jackson and Freeman did, making generalized comments about democrats and the media.
The specifics you offer in your comment about the unfairness in the media I agree are not at all helping the situation America faces now. Thanks for providing them as they give me some more things to look into.
To be clear, I'm not defending Jackson or Freeman's comments. I don't know them enough to speak to them and I don't care how good an actor someone is. If they've been unfair, they should be called on it. My comments were specific to what I was reading in your hub.
Thanks again for clarifying.
cheers
@ Sherisapp
With respect, you don't have any notion of my political/social leanings, but if you want to refer to me as a 'lib' go for it.
And if sweeping statements about an entire class of people are wrong, we shouldn't be using them to refute them. If I'm complaining about someone's sweeping statments (eg: 'the tea party is racist') I don't advance my argument by saying 'the only racists I'm seeing in America are in the black communities'.
this is really just 'I know you are but what am I'.
There are good points made in pcoaches hub and comments. I just think those points are weakened by doing exactly the same thing in response.
Just an opinion
cheers
coach- etal,
I think we can all agree "the use of all is never correct with the exception of this statement". as such, I agree that there are geniuses and pinheads in every walk of life and I agree that jackson and Freeman are playing the pro-liberal pro-race cards based on the facts of what everyone else who has been to or seen a Tea Party rally and only saw dirty lib and union plants slurring people- when you look at the difference between tea party rallies and the lefty toes- NYC- wisconsin - how they behave and how they leave the place-it does not take a genius to see who is better behaved and more consciensious as protestors.. sometmes the way things look are how they are

Pcoach, I'm bumping this up as I have seen and heard way to many "entertainers" taking a tack that only money can buy and are jumping in both feet shooting America in the face with statements unbecoming of why I take time to watch or listen to them. I'm saddened to see Jackson, my go to guy since Pulp Fiction fall from his perch, I don't get these folks, the whole of America spending cash on their ticket to fame and big houses in hollywierd and they shoot 2/3rds in the face. All entertainers need to realize the only reason they'll be allowed to run free is for PR and acting as court jesters. I'm so glad to live out of that arena of troubles called civilization, peace,

With all of the back-and-forth about racism, what isn't talked about is the rise in anti-Semitism. For some reason it's always been acceptable for muslims and black muslims to rant against Jews, nowadays with the word Zionists.
Greetings All,
Please read this article and learn truth about the true racist socialization that promotes white privilege. The lives of American people will be shattered when the politics of white privilege and white supremacy ends. All will see that the greedy rich one percent of the population have been keeping poor people at each other throats. Politics makes no difference if faces change and nonsense policies that weaken the future of America does not change. All Americans must have a fair and equitable opportunity to become productive citizens. Here is an interesting article to help all of you to understand the foundation of black and white relationships.

I will read the rest of the hub, but this statement early on stopped me dead in my tracks. . .
"the only racists I am seeing in America are coming from the black communities. . ."
Really? The only racists currently in America are black?
If this is what you believe, you are simply wrong.
If this was just sloppy writing, still an issue.
And now I've read the rest of it. You make some fairly sweeping statements about an entire class of people (democrats) that I would appreciate some specifics on. I have yet to read an article from either side of this very polarized debate that didn't start from a place something like "the other side is just evil".
There is no hope for America, none at all, if that is where the discussion starts.
As to the comments of these gentlemen against the Tea Party, they are not the first to refer to the movement as racist, so I'm not sure why they are singled out.
