1/15/11: Since this hub was originally published, many things have occurred in Arizona and the United States regarding this bill and this topic. The "Dream Act" made it to the 112th Congress and was shot down, and not just by Republicans. The Healthcare bill is on its way to repeal or at the very least, serious changes. Many states are enacting legislation that will deal with the devastation of illegal immigration. At least one Federal court has ruled that the Healthcare bill is unconstitutional. If you have nothing constructive to say, don't leave a comment, please. I have only said in this hub what millions of LEGAL Americans feel. America is going to hell in a handbasket financially and we simply can't do this anymore and remain a free nation. We are in debt to China up to our ying-yangs and it is not funny. We must take a stand and let our government know that we take our credit, the nation's credit, as seen by the world, very seriously. Thank you.
They Broke the Law to Get Here-Now Get the Hell Out!
I simply don't get it. Illegals come into our country by breaking our laws in order to get here in the first place, and then continue to break the law in much more hidious ways, i.e., human trafficking, drug trafficking, kidnapping for ransom or worse. Twenty-five percent of California jails are filled with illegals who have committed crimes of magnitude, i.e., assault and battery, rape, murder, kidnapping. Fifteen percent of California's public school students, K-12, are illegal. Okay, so opposers to Arizona's 1070 bill don't understand why we don't like illegals in our states? That's not bad enough for you?
Maybe the illegals and persons supporting their "plight" don't understand why this is a problem for Arizonans, or Americans for that matter, because Arizona is not alone. The crime issue should be obvious. How else do all those crimes affect Arizonans? Because it costs money to house all those illegals, and once they are out of jail, they will either return to Mexico, or remain in Arizona as an illegal, and never pay back the state for its costs to hold them while they fulfilled their prison terms. Now, if it were my caucasion legal citizen butt behind bars in Arizona, once I fulfilled my prison term, I would have to pay the state back for what it cost to keep me there. But if your illegal, you just disappear into the woodwork, leaving the bill to be paid by GUESS WHO? Me and You, John and Jane Doe American Citizen, payor of taxes.
As for the public school problem, yes, problem, one reason Arizonans/Americans are upset is because it costs money to have more children in a classroom. Every time a class exceeds its quota of children per teacher, a new teacher must be hired, or the children must find another school that is not already overfilled by illegals. That is completely wrong when legal Arizonans/Americans are the ones footing the bill. The schools monies are all tapped out. The give-a-ways are coming to an end, finally, because illegals have broken our financial stability.
Wouldn't it be great if we could afford to take care of all the world's ills, but we can't.
And then this morning I read that another Arizona police officer has been shot and killed in Phoenix. And a woman, whose purse was on her arm, was dragged by yes, another illegal alien in a vehicle trying to rip off her purse. Almost ripped off her arm. The earlier part of this hub was written before this morning's news. My attitude has changed in that short period of time.
NOW ALL BETS ARE OFF! What follows is my Love Letter to Illegal Mexicans, and I say specifically illegal Mexicans because it is the massive influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico who are causing these problems so you can own it. The burden is properly placed on your backs.
Dear ILLEGAL MEXICANS: Get the heck out of my country on your own steam before the rest of us LEGAL AMERICANS assist you in that endeavor. When you get legal, we will welcome you like a lost brother. But until you are legal, get the heck out of my country. Do not move into my neighborhood. We are good, law-abiding, legal people here and we have no use for additional drains on our welfare system. Your presence in our country is a slap in our face and I am ready to start slapping back. You think it's a joke to come into MY COUNTRY and protest about your rights at a capitol in a state of America WHERE YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS? GET IT? You have no rights in this country as long as you are illegal. I am exactly what you have created so deal with it or get out of my country.
Ya know, until this morning's news, I had a heart for illegal Mexicans. NOT ANYMORE. Now, I am just angry. How dare you come into this great country and complain about our laws on immigration when in fact, your own country's immigration laws are far worse. To immigrate TO Mexico (who in their right mind, right?), you actually have to have a skill or something to contribute to the country. Something that you can do. Well, no wonder you are all coming here.
And for those of you LEGAL AMERICANS who have a problem with how I feel about illegals, then you simply have no blinkin' sense and your opinion is worthless in my opinion. In fact, I would suggest that you invite a few homeless illegals into your home and take some of the burden off the hard-working, tax-paying, legal people trying to provide a decent place for their families. Bring them into your homes. You feed them, house them, pay for their medical needs, entertain them, whatever it is that makes your heart go pit-a-pat.
And finally, I have a black and white 26-year-old daughter and a 6 1/2-year-old granddaughter living in Phoenix. I voice their ethnicity for the sole purpose of showing that I don't have a problem with anybody's skin color, creed, what the heck ever. I only moved away from Phoenix two years ago so I have experienced the hell hole that it has become. Let not a hair on the tops of their beautiful heads be harmed or some illegal alien will discover the meaning of American. That, people, is a promise.

I agree, PCoach. We cannot afford to take care of the whole world any longer. I am an isolationist by nature and feel that there is nothing and I do mean nothing, including oil, in this world that we can't provide for ourselves. I'm an Arizona resident. Illegal immigration is killing my state. I just published a hub a few minutes ago on this. I struggle with a battle between my compassion for these beautiful people and the tough decsions that have to be made. As far as the guy that said the thing about us losing our jobs. And finally, I do have LEGAL Mexican and Mexican-American friends who, unfortunately for your viewpoint, share my views. Legal Americans of all races and sizes see the damage to America that our porous border has caused. Mexican drug cartels are rendering some of the U.S. lands untravelable. Who the hell as ever heard of this crap in America? My kid and grandkid live in Phoenix. I lived there until a few years ago. It is a pit of hell in my humble opinion.
I will also further point out that if illegals, marching or protesting in Arizona cities, would protest peacefully and leave their Mexican flags at home, that would go a long way to easing those tensions but instead what we get is ILLEGALS burning the American flag and taunting Americans with the Mexican flag.
I have to tell you, as someone who has served in the military and put my life on the line for this great country, I am beyond offended that this is the kind of behavior from people who want to become part of this country. No, I don't think so. But I do thank you for your comment and your willingness to discuss it.

Why is it that anyone against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is automatically a racist. It's ILLEGAL that what part of that are you not understanding? Americans are against illegal immigration regardless of race, nationality, or ethnicity. Nothing about this post came off as racist to me. If you read this and that's what you took away from it, then perhaps you should read it again, and again, and AGAIN until you actually grasp what is being said here.
The arguement I hear the most is that, "America was founded and built by immigrants from numerous countries." Yes it was, however these immigrants had a vision, work ethic, and values. Something "illegals" do not possess because if they did they would not be here ILLEGALLY. The issue of illegal immigration is not just a "Mexican" or "Hispanic" one, however a vast majority of our illegal immigrants are coming from our southern borders, thus when the topic of illegal immigration is mentioned YES, Mexicans are brought up the most. Not because "White America" is racist, but because illegal Mexicans are the largest contributing factor and are relevant to the discussion! What sense would it make to ignore these characteristics?

I have cleaned those toilets, babysat, worked picking fruit, worked in factories we have done it all. We were doing it long before any of them came here and we will be doing it long after the are gone. They are a drain on our country and they are sucking us dry. I might be wrong on this (it has happened once before haha) but I truly believe that if we were to absolutely have a guarantee that the border was locked down; NOT the promise that it will be closed, but once it is closed and guaranteed that it is LOCKED AND SECURE, I believe that the majority of americans would consider to some form of legalization BUT that isn't even an option or worth discussing until the border is secure. Illegal immigration is a HUUUGE PROBLEM but the border concerns me even more from a national security perspective. How can anyone after 9/11 say they are serious about protecting America if they wont agree to something as basic as closing our borders.

I read Jane's posts last night before you deleted them and while i do agree she may have let her arguments become too emotional, she did have valid points.
First, your article specifically attacked Mexican illegals several times, and whether you chose to address it or not, this is a racial topic. Laws such as the one in Arizona specifically attack those with a Latino backround, and while people such as yourself continue to deny it, it is quite obvious. I also agree with her in the sense that you should put yourself in these peoples shoes before judging and generalizing them as criminals. I read that you don't want to put yourself in their shoes because they are illegal, but i find the fact that you can't see past that to be ridiculous. I'm not specifically attacking you, but i do believe that many of the people who have a strong hate for undocumented immigrants, do have some growing up to do. You yourself address the fact that Mexico is not an ideal place to live in. All that most of these immigrants are trying to do is to move to a place that will enable them to have a better life. It is a long, grueling process to become a citizen or legal resident, one that not all immigrants have the time or means to go through. Lastly, pcoach, I also agree that you should weigh both sides of a topic before making an opinion, unless of course you are using politics as an excuse to be a racist. If hubpages give you a sense of power, great. I'm sure you will realize in no time that all your blind opinions will grant you is followers as idiotic as yourself.

The problem is that first of all, assimilation is required by all persons becoming citizens of America and this is not happening and hasn't been for the last 50 years. Secondly, the problem with illegals and IT IS A PROBLEM WE CANNOT AFFORD. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE SCHEDULES FOR ALLOWING CITIZENSHIP IN OUR COUNTRY. "Illegals in America" is still as hot a topic as it has ever been for the last two years because it remains a problem.
